Ruth Wentworth, 1930-2009

Ruth C. Wentworth, 78, wife of Door County Squadron member Alan Wentworth, died on 4 January 2009. Ruth attended many Door County Squadron meetings and events. She loved the area, her boat, and the water. And she cherished her many friends in the Door County Squadron.

Ruth held several positions in the Green Bay squadron, including that of commander, 2000-2001. During her watch, the squadron won the Prince Henry award, and was cited by the Coast Guard for its contributions to boating safety. She was active on several national committees and enjoyed the annual trips to their meetings.

During her marriage of 52 years, she became an essential advisor to her husband and a loyal supporter of his activities. Ruth was a strong maternal figure for her four children.  All became boaters and comfortable swimmers in childhood. Her life was full of accomplishments, experiences, and love. She will be missed, and her example will be remembered for years.
