America's
Boating Club®-United
States Power Squadrons®
is the world's largest recreational boating organization with 20,000
members. Members learn together, boat together, and help each other
and other boaters on the water and on land. The only requirements
for membership are a keen interest in boating and an eagerness to
meet and enjoy time with other boating enthusiasts. Having a boat is
not required.
Our
club, America's Boating Club Southern Maryland (ABCSOMD)
- Patuxent River Sail and Power Squadron, is a member of
America's Boating Club - United States Power Squadrons. We are
located in Lexington Park, MD home of the Patuxent River Naval Air
Station. The club serves the Southern Maryland counties of Charles,
St. Mary's and Calvert. America's Boating Club Southern Maryland is
a boating social/educational organization dedicated to providing
year round boating education classes as well as water and land based
social activities enjoyed by all our members.
Our monthly squadron membership dinner is held on the second
Thursday of the month at the Pier Restaurant in Solomons, MD. Dinner
begins at 5:30pm with the member meeting at 6:30 pm. Please

NEWS***
*** America's Boating Club Southern Maryland holds regular
squadron dinner meetings on the second Thursday of the month.The
next meeting will be July 11, the location will be announced soon.
Dinner is at 5:30pm with the meeting starting at 6:30pm.
*** At a recent dinner meeting, the guest speaker, Jin-Hwa
Frazier, demonstrated a new type of USCG certified HERO inflatable
Life Vest from her company, SOS Swimshirt. Since the interest in
the swimshirt was so high, a link to the website is provided on

*** America's Boating Club District 5 will hold the Summer
Council/Rendezvous here on Solomons Island on July 25 - 28. See
the District 5 Newsletter at the link below for more details.
*** We will be teaching the Boat Handling Class at Spring
Cove Marina in Solomons starting Wednesday June 12. The class
will meet for 6 successive weeks and the test will be on 24
July.
