BoatU.S. Distinguished Civic Service Award
Sponsored By
The 2012 BoatU.S. Civic Service Award is designed to award the squadron or district that has the most members involved in their community
in the name of USPS. The forms provided are to help break down the categories and to make it easier for the submitter to complete the submission form.
- The Submission Form – Squadron and District – an electronic form that can be adjusted to fit your squadrons needs. The form divides the categories up and provides one place to make final entries.
This is the only form that will get submitted to the committee, other than an additional paperwork describing the events.
- The Civic Service Award Submission Form Companion Document – This document is a must for anyone to complete the submission form. Each category on the submission form is addressed and described in
detail of what is expected. Examples are given as well as some explanation.
- The Civic Service Worksheet – This form is designed to be used for each event where multiple members are involved primarily in shifts to help provide the detail that is needed to fill in the submission
form. It is provided in an effort to help explain this sometimes confusing part of the submission form to complete.
- Examples of Previous Civic Service Award Submissions – Use this to come up with ideas of what does qualify or other events you can get your squadron or district in.
The best way to win this award is to provide a description of each item entered. The judges need to be provided a description of each event, the number of people involved, the number of hours each member participated,
and the overall result of the squadron’s participation, if known. This is an area where too much information is not a problem! The judges will determine the number of points based on the description, and not the event
title. Hopefully, examples of expectations are provided.
Please read through all documentation carefully before starting to complete the submission form. This will save you lots of time. We recommend you read through the paperwork prior to every event so that you are able to
collect as much information that you can throughout the event. This will make the completion of the submission form a lot easier than reading it for the first time at the end of the year.
We want as many squadrons and districts to participate in the award as possible. BoatU.S. is very generous in providing us with this great trophy that I would like EVERY squadron to get! So, take a few minutes, read through
the information and see what you can do to get your squadron more involved in your community!
