America's Boating Club®

United States Power Squadrons®

Welcome!

The Bluegrass Power Squadron, also known as America's Boating Club-Bluegrass Chapter, was chartered in 1971, and is part of The United States Power Squadrons® , a non-profit recreational boating organization. For more than 100 years, USPS has worked to make the water a safer place through boating education, civic service and fellowship. Being a member of Bluegrass, you can improve your boating skills and knowledge online, in the classroom with certified instructors, or outdoors with hands-on training. By joining America's premier boating organization, you can have fun with other boaters on the water and on land!

The America's Boating Club-Bluegrass Chapter, serving the Central Kentucky area, is made up of experienced sailors, power boaters and paddlers who enjoy both inland boating and coastal cruising. We offer trips for both sail and power boaters. Some of the past trips include Chesapeake Bay, the British Virgin Islands, the Bahamas and boating activities on local lakes. In addition to our trips, Bluegrass offers a wide variety of seminars for the public, courses for our members, summer boating events and opportunities for public service. We also have monthly events for members and guests. Bluegrass offers many benefits to our members through America's Boating Club.

Welcome to the Meriden Power Squadron

We boat in Connecticut and surrounding waters.
We are part of America's Boating Club, the largest nonprofit boating organization in the country.
Our home port is in Meriden, Connecticut.
We are members of  the United States Power Squadrons.
Our squadron is part of District 1.

We are beyond boating with our dedication to safe boating through fellowship, education, and civic service.
We are all about the practice and skills of pleasure boating, under sail, power, or paddle.

We teach America's Boating Course® which qualifies you for a Connecticut Boating Certificate.

We help Boaters improve their Boating Experiences.
America's Boating Club® is built by boaters, for boaters. We help other boaters with free Vessel Safety Checks, navigation chart updates for NOAA, public boating safety education and many other safe, rewarding boating activities. We have been making boating safer and more enjoyable for over 100 years.

Have Fun with Boating and Social Activities

  • Our members individually own over 60 boats, and many others enjoy membership with our local Freedom Boat Club and Carefree Boat Club. Don't have a boat? We'll help you come aboard with members who do.
  • Our fun is not all on the water. We enjoy getting together wherever friends, food, and fun can be found ... at our monthly dinner meetings that feature great guest speakers and other outings and get-togethers as friends.

Enjoy Community Connections in Greater Savannah

  • Our club has been active in the greater Savannah area since 1957. We're part of the United States Power Squadrons®/America's Boating Club®.
  • We partner with the Chatham Sailing Club on sailing education and our local USCG Auxiliary flotilla for Vessel Safety Checks.
  • We have an active Cooperative Charting program that gets us out on the water and helps our local charts stay up to date.
  • We participate in year-round beach clean-ups with Clean Coast, and members enjoy being part of the Coastal Conservation Association, the Dolphin Project, the Caretta Turtle Project, and more.
  • Whatever your interest, we'll help you connect with the greater-Savannah boating community.
