All Classes Are Open to the General Public

• Basic Boating Course

This is a 6-week, in-depth class in boater education. Instruction is free; however, there is a charge for the materials which include the certificate of completion for those passing the exam. This certificate more than satisfies the State of Oregon’s requirements for boater education. Classes are offered in the spring and fall. Call Rick Rafferty at 503-640-6792 for class schedule.

• Boat Smart Course

This is a three-day introductory class in boater education. Instruction is free; however, there is a charge for the materials which include the certificate of completion for those passing the exam. This certificate satisfies the State of Oregon’s requirements for boater education. Classes are offered in the spring and fall or as interest requires. Call Rick Rafferty at 503-640-6792 for class schedule.

Advanced Topic Classes and Electives

• Seamanship, Piloting, Advanced Piloting, Junior Navigation, and Navigation.
• Since these classes build on knowledge gained in the earlier ones, it is strongly suggested that these be taken in the proper order. They may be offered in the fall, winter or spring as member interest dictates.

• Elective courses are Engine Maintenance, Marine Electronics, Sail, Cruise Planning, and Weather.

Seminars

• A variety of 1-4 seminars are offered each year. Check the Education page for details.

• Vessel Safety Check Program: -- Call Rick Rafferty at 503-640-6792 for information about this service.

Meetings/Cruises/Social Events:

• Bridge meetings (for members only): first Wednesday of every month; see The Foghorn for time and location.
• General meetings: held on the third Wednesday of each month at 1915, Holiday party in December, Change of Watch dinner in March. Program details are published each month in our newsletter, The Foghorn.
• Cruises: District 32, of which Beaverton Squadron is a part, holds several cruises and other activities, some combined with other local squadrons.
