As a public service, the Beaverton Power Squadron provides boaters free Vessel Safety Checks (VSC) . A VSC is a courtesy examination (formerly Coast Guard Courtesy Exam) of your boat (vessel) to verify the presence and condition of certain safety equipment required by State and Federal regulations. The vessel safety examiner is a trained specialist and is a member of the United States Power Squadron or the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. They will also make certain recommendations and discuss certain safety issues that can make your boating safer. Your VSC results are kept confidential and not shared with law enforcement. The vessel examiners can meet you on the docks, at your home, or at your boat storage facility. The VSC is completely complimentary. Scheduling your safety check is easy. For more information regarding items that your boat might need for certification click here. |
When your boat passes you receive a sticker for your vessel like the one below. Display it proudly. If you need any further information you can contact our VSC Chairman Rick Rafferty 503-320-8086. Every year as you get your boat ready for the summer ahead, you typically go through a mental checklist of the things that need to be checked or worked on. To make this process go smoother, our squadron developed a Spring Commissioning Checklist of your boat. Click here for the easy to use spreadsheet. |
