Feb 7-9 D-5 Winter Council in Cambridge

The U.S. Power Squadrons are more than just Dundalk. We're part of District-5, which convenes its Winter Council at the new Hyatt luxury resort on the water at Cambridge. Special rates apply. All members are encouraged to attend. Reserve your room now and send in your registration.

District 5 Commander Bill Seldon will be in attendance for our annual Founders Day celebration. Bring hors d'ouvres to share.

Mar 19 General Membership Meetings at Balco Club 2000 (8 p.m.)

This meeting features the general election for our new officers. Come and vote to "throw the bums out!" Bring hors d'ouvres to share.

Mar 22 Change of Watch Banquet

Come and witness the swearing in of the new officers at the impressively ceremonial Change of Watch banquet. Also enjoy a wonderful dinner. Dress up.

April 4-6 Spring Conference in Richmond

This is the one where all the new squadron commanders are on the line to mount a memorable hospitality room. Our incoming commander has set the theme of "Wharf Rats" for the Dundalk Suite. Attire will be gray sweats with pink tails. The official drink will be "Rat Poison". Not to be missed.

April 16 General Membership Meetings at Balco Club 2000 (8 p.m.)

May 3 Shakedown Cruise to Riverwatch

Dust the cobwebs off the old boat and put her in the water. Details still being worked out but we'll all converge on the Middle River restaurant and Marina by boat or car.

May 17-18 Safety Weekend Inner Harbor

DSPS will do something impressive in the Inner Harbor for our Safety Weekend. Vessel safety checks will be a big focus but there's more, even for non-inspectors.

June 20 Ocean City Power Cruise

Several adventurous DSPS members, including John Hall and Bernie Karpers, may attempt a run to Ocean City. This means traversing the notoriously choppy Delaware Bay and venturing along the Atlantic coast for a few miles. You're welcome to come along. Or just volunteer to crew with those who go.

June 28 Practice Navigation Contest

This is a tune-up for the D-5 competition in July. Both events will be held in the Bay just outside Key Bridge. There will be some training opportunities prior to the practice for newcomers to learn some of the ropes. Also between the initial practice and the D-5 event more one-day practices may be scheduled. If entering your own boat is a bit much, volunteers are always needed for the many positions on the other contestants vessels. Competing in these events is a blast.

July 5 Middle River Fireworks

These are far better than the ones in the inner harbor and maneuvering and anchoring are a whole lot easier. A number of DSPS boats will hook up to enjoy a relaxed yet spectacular evening.

July 12-13 Chesapeake Beach Water Park Mini-cruise

This is a weekend jaunt down to Chesapeake Beach to visit the fun and affordable city-owned water park there. Kids from two through late teens and on into their sixties love the place. The Rod and Reel Marina and Restaurant across the street from the water park should also have lots of newly opened hotel space for land-sleepers. Bring friends and/or their kids, grandkids, or just yourselves.

July 17-25 D-5 Commander's Cruises

D-5 is having their Commander's cruise the week before the Summer Rendezvous that is being hosted by us the last weekend in July. Actually it's actually two cruises - one heading up the Bay from the south and one heading down the Bay from the North, converging in St. Michaels a couple of days before they all come to visit us in the Inner Harbor. Because DSPS needs to prepare for the big event many of us won't be able to participate in the D-5 cruise. But if it fits your schedule, go for it.

July 25-26 DSPS Hosts D-5 Rendezvous

Hosting several hundred brethren from around the District is a huge responsibility and the squadron will need the help of every member to make that weekend a memorable one of which we can be proud for years to come.

July 28-Aug 3 DSPS Commander's Cruise

Our own Dundalk Commander’s cruise departs the Sunday immediately after the rendezvous for a week of traversing the northern part of the Bay Our future Commander has decided that all ports of call will have on-shore sleeping facilities as well as slips. In addition to boats without sleeping facilities to join in, that will also allow members without working boats to hitch rides with those who have plenty of room.

Aug 2 Easter Seal Cruise-Inner Harbor

The Commander's cruise will arrive back in the Inner Harbor the evening of August 2^nd so that we can participate once again in the Easter Seals Children's Cruise. Last year's event touched many Dundalk members so we'll be back in time for the Captain's meeting Friday night. Then we take the kids out Saturday morning. That night we'll have a big dinner at a seafood restaurant somewhere around the Inner Harbor.

Aug 22-24 Crab Feast Haven Harbor

Set your GPS for Rock Hall and the annual crab feast. That's the event that is traditionally the most popular of all squadron activities. Friends and kids have a great time as well as members. There's a pool and great music and dancing.

Sept 12-14 St. Michaels Cruise

This elegant and quaint locale will mark the perfect spot for a September cruise. Hotels are available as well as slips.

Oct 11-12 Frostbite Cruise Baltimore Yacht Club

Its so late this year we might really have frost ! Come by boat or drive to the Baltimroe Yacht Club.
