The Mission of the Vessel Safety Check Program is to minimize the loss of life, personal injury, property damage and environmental impact while maximizing the safe use and enjoyment of U.S. waterways by recreational boaters. The Vessel Safety Check process is one of “prevention through education, outreach and volunteer compliance” helping recreational boaters to gain a respect for the boating environment.
The VSC Program also helps to achieve voluntary compliance with federal and state recreational boating safety laws, particularly with regard to the carriage of safety equipment while raising boater awareness about safety and environmental issues through voluntary contact by a Vessel Examiner (VE). VE discussions are designed to motivate recreational boaters to maintain and operate their boats in a safe manner, take boating safety courses to increase their knowledge and skills in boating, and promote safe boating.
If you don’t have a decal for the current year, or if you don’t have a decal at all, it is time to call one of our vessel examiners for your free Vessel Safety Check! Verify that you have the recommended safety equipment, that it is up-to-date, and that your vessel will be ready for the boating year.
You can prepare ahead of time by performing your own pre-VSC online. Click on the link below. |
For your Free Vessel Safety Check, contact any of our Vessel Examiners listed below (click on a name to send an email). If your boat is outside the areas we cover, you can find the nearest Vessel Examiner by clicking safetyseal.net/GetVSC and entering your zip code.
