Valley Ho Power Squadron |
Dry Land Cruise and BBQ Dinner Meeting
The Dry Land Cruise and BBQ is an outdoor BBQ Dinner usually held on a Saturday night in June at a
member’s home (Marv and Barbara Nelson). Attendees bring their own meat or fish
to be cooked by them on the Squadron BBQ grill, while side dishes are provided
by members or Sea Gals for a nominal charge. A short Member Meeting is
convened, and members may attend this meeting without participating in the
meal.
The main purpose of this assembly is social and fellowship with conversations
often dealing with member boating activities, although Valley Ho Squadron
business, usually brief, is conducted during the meeting. Dress and activities
are all very informal with the emphasis placed on fun and enjoyment.
On June 12, 2004 Valley Ho had a wonderful time at Marv and Barbara Nelson's
home for the Dry Land Cruise and Barbeque. Swimming, comradeship, a
delicious meal and a very entertaining speaker from the Coast Guard were the
highlights of the evening. The Coast Guard's Power Point presentation on
how they are protecting our shores after the Sept 11 tragedy was very
interesting. All who went really appreciated the hospitality of the
Nelson’s.
