CRUISE & RENDEZVOUS
FREQEUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The hallmark of a vibrant and active squadron or district is not only measured by its meetings and classes, but by what it does beyond that. The outside activities that rank high on the list for enhancing member involvement and enjoyment are often referred to as Cruise and Rendezvous (C&Rs). And when the opportunity exists, a C&R may involve more than one squadron or district.

Each year nearly 400 events around the country are listed. If your squadron or district C&R is not listed among them an easy interactive online registration is all that is needed.

The listings are also a great source of ideas for your squadron or district as it plans and executes its social calendar. Don't miss the party!

Some of the frequently asked questions for C&Rs are:

What is the difference between a Rendezvous and a Cruise?
How should I describe an event?
Why is a contact person required?
Can squadron/district meetings be listed?
Are C&Rs published in THE ENSIGN®?
What is the deadline for inclusion in the monthly listings?
How do I register or change our squadron/district listing?
How do I know that my registration has been received?
Is the C&R personal information shared outside USPS-CPS?

Question: How should I describe an event?

Answer: Event description should be short and descriptive. Keep the descriptions to one or two sentences maximum. Remember it may be necessary to edit it to fit the space available. It is better that you limit the description rather than leave that to someone else.

Question: Are C&Rs published in THE ENSIGN®

Answer: Beginning with the January/February 2007 issue of THE ENSIGN, Cruise and Rendezvous are no longer included in the publication. However, they will continue to be listed on the Squadron Activities Committee Cruise and Rendezvous website.

Question: What is the deadline for inclusion in the monthly listings?

Answer: There is no deadline for listing Cruise and Rendezvous. They will be added to the online listings in the order they are received. Past C&Rs for either the current year or prior year can be listed. C&Rs for the following year can also be listed. The online database has a three year span, last year, this year, and next year and rolls over at the beginning of each new year.

Question: How do I register or change our squadron/district listing?

Answer: The preferred method is to use the online form. This form may be accessed at: www.usps.org/national/boatact/cr_rendform.html. It is linked to from both the public and member only Cruise and Rendezvous websites and at the bottom of this page as well. As an alternative, the form can be printed, filled in by hand, and mailed to the database manager listed on the form. This will introduce an additional delay for the listing.

If a change is needed to a previously submitted event, please use the "Comments to the Committee" section of the form to indicate what elements of the event need to be changed.

Hint: If multiple events are being submitted for which the contact or submitter information remains relatively unchanged, use your browser Back function to recall the submitted form and make the needed changes for the next event.

Question: How do I know that my registration has been received?
Answer:
The registration forms are sent to the database manager who will check it for completeness. When the information from the form has been entered into the database and the online websites have been updated the database manager will send a return email to acknowledge the fact that the changes have been made.
