Cruising in 2005P/C Robert E. Glaser, JN2005 Chair of Boating ActivitiesThe year 2005 was a very challenging boating year. A bad
weather start in Belhaven in March and April proved we were not always lucky at
picking boating activity weekends. That is of course excepting for Labor Day
which the Katrina induced gas crunch killed. I also need to say we did have great
cruises in May to Reports from the beach confirmed that cancellation of the Beaufort cruise was a good decision. Heavy rain, high tides, strong wind, and a 10-foot surf all contributed to a nasty weekend at the coast. That said, we still have a month or so of opportunities and
I will defer to CoOp Chair Greg Zolas to coordinate them as CoOp Charting
opportunities. His report covers the next planned outing which was originally
planned for Many thanks to P/C/C L. M. Barnes III, SN, and Margaret for their kind invitation to their home in Beaufort. We regret we missed out on their gracious hospitality. We hope the invitation will be a rain check for next year, as Beaufort is a great port to visit. Safe boating to all.
