Coop Charting

Beaufort Sail & Power Squadron participates in updating nautical charts by taking depth measurements, range surveys, small craft facility (marina) reports and correcting entries on nautical charts which have changed since the charts were issued.

The information accumulated is then reported to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce,for inclusion in their next issues of the relevant charts.

The Coast Guard is also notified if daymarks and buoys are not in the charted location.

Cooperation with NOAA is sought at this time as their field people are engaged in other tasks and data input from the Sail and Power Squadrons is of great importance for maintenance of these local nautical charts.
