Vessel Safety Check Program
Display your safety sticker with pride

The Coastal Bend Sail and Power Squadron supports and is an active partner with the U.S. Cooast Guard and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in a national program to perform Vessel Safety Checks. A number of squadron members have been trained and are certified as Vessel Examiners.

Recreational Boating Safety saves lives. The VSCP provides significant benefits to recreational boaters. Missing, damaged and/or malfunctioning safety equipment for recreational vessels can be identified at the dock or on land and installed, replaced or fixed to ensure ready availability in a potential emergency.

Examples of VSC Decal Requirements include: Proper Display of Numbers, Proper Vessel Registration/Documentation, Personal Flotation Devices, Fire Extinguishers, Ventilation, Backfire Flame Control, Sound Producing Devices / Bell, Navigation Lights, Pollution Placard, MARPOL Trash Placard, Marine Sanitation Devices, Navigation Rules, State and/or Local Requirements, Overall Vessel Condition.

West Marine and Boat/U.S. have joined in support of the Vessel Safety Check Program. Both offer a 10% discount on safety related items for individuals who obtain a VSC. The boater's copy of the VSC 204 form will qualify them for the discount.
