ABOUT MISSOURI OZARKS POWER SQUADRON (MOPS)

In the early 1980's members in the Power Squadrons of Kansas City, MO and St. Louis, MO, became interested in the Lake of the Ozarks and in June 1984 Missouri Ozark Power Squadron was born. The Squadron holds monthly meetings at various locations around the lake, with the Christmas meeting being rivaled by none. They hold a Cruise and Rendezvous, Predicted Log Race, and member training each year. Boating Safety classes are offered to the boating public in the spring and the fall, and FREE Vessel Safety Checks are being offered year long.

ABOUT the UNITED STATES POWER SQUADRON®

The United States Power Squadron (USPS) ® is our national parent organization. Founded in 1914, the USPS ® is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting safe boating through education. While private, the USPS has reciprocal relationships with several governmental agencies: the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the National Ocean Service. In fact, successful completion of our Public Boating Course, is recognized as meeting the educational requirement for boat operation in all states, including the new certification requirements in Missouri.
The United States Power Squadron (USPS) ® is comprised of local power squadrons, such as the Missouri Ozarks Power Squadron, organized into Districts, based on location, such as our District, District 30. (Members of a local squadron are also members of their District and the USPS ® .)
The USPS ® contributes national Administrative and Educational branches which provide Districts and local squadrons with an organizational framework to ensure local squadrons abide by organizational By-Laws, offer service to their local communities, and consistently deliver standardized educational materials.
