TAKE IT TO THE LIMITThe song by the Eagles goes, "you know I've always been a dreamer, spent my life running around and it's so hard to change, can't seem to settle down, but the dreams I've seen lately keep on turning out, and burning out, and turning out the same. So put me on a highway and show me a sign and take it to the limit one more time."That song typifies the new National Executive Department Website which represents the culmination of a year of dedication and hard work by the Cooperative Charting, Grants and External Funding, Recreational Boating Safety, National Meetings, Squadron Development, and Vessel Safety Check Committees in addition to support provided by all 33 District Commanders. Why was the goal of redesigning the Executive Department website important? For one thing, it showcases a paradigm shift in the way national interfaces with the membership, i.e. developing a simple but consistent communications style that's simple but elegant. By nature, I'm a believer in our country, the people we represent, recreational boating safety, and especially the United States Power Squadrons. I recognize that each of us has so much to offer. We are a dynamic, increasingly diverse, and progressive thinking organization. That is what makes the members of our organization so special. It's also about the growing belief that each of us can make a difference, one member at a time; a concept relayed by our Power of One Campaign. These and similar pursuits offer us the greatest opportunity to increase our organizational visibility, name recognition, and ability to recruit new or reach back and retain previous or inactive members. I am a believer in the United States Power Squadrons, a dreamer of what the greatest educational safe boating organization in the world can be, and believe that we CAN take it to the limit one more time!
