About the Norwalk Sail and Power Squadron
WHERE WE ARE
Home waters for members of the Norwalk Sail and Power Squadron are those surrounding the beautiful Norwalk Islands on the Connecticut coast of Long Island Sound in Fairfield County, about 50 miles from New York City.
WHO WE ARE
Founded in 1935, Norwalk Sail & Power Squadron is a non-profit boating organization. It is part of District 2 of the United States Power Squadrons
whose territory comprises the area shown on the map above, right. There are 15
squadrons in District 2, located from just west of the Housatonic River in
Connecticut on the shores of Long Island Sound and from Westchester County north
to the Lake Champlain region in New York. All squadrons in District 2 get
together several times a year to plan events and enjoy good times. There are
several events annually, including cruises/rendezvous and lots of good times. Click on the District 2 website link at left to learn more.
WHAT WE DO
We teach boating classes to the general public and each other. We can help
you get your required Connecticut Safe Boating Certificate. Our members are
an enthusiastic group who teach awareness of boating and boating safety to
the community and who enjoy camaraderie and good times with others who love
to "mess about in boats." In addition to regular meetings, we also have
gatherings during the year, both on land and water. Our shared feelings
about boats and being on the water have fostered many long-lasting
relationships. We are there for each other. When traveling to distant ports,
members can call upon the local squadron's Port Captain for local
information. We are a close-knit group of knowledgeable boaters who have fun together both on and off the water. Visit our
Social Activities page to see some photos of our gatherings.
Whether a sailor, a power boater, or a kayaker; whether you race, day cruise, or enjoy extended cruising, there's a place for you as a member of the Norwalk Sail & Power Squadron. Come join us.
