The America's Boating Club of Central Pennsylvania is a family organization. Centered around Harrisburg, we were chartered in 1942 as the Susquehannock Sail and Power Squadron. We modernized our name in 2016 to better reflect our group's identity as part of the national organization, America's Boating Club.
We are celebrating our 81st anniversary this year! Our members may be found on the Susquehanna River, Raystown Lake, local lakes, Chesapeake Bay, Delaware River, Atlantic or cruising the inland water way to Florida, the Bahamas and beyond.
We offer a wide variety of educational programs related to boating safety, paddling, anchoring, boat handling, navigation, cruising, weather, electronics, and engine maintenance and repair. We provide free Vessel Safety Checks. Classes are offered virtually to accomodate schedules and to comply with current health regulations. We will offer on-the-water training when it is again safe to do so.
We just altered our social activities to maintain our friendships online. We hope that it will be safe for our members to gather later this year to hold our steak fry, Merit Mark Picnic and Frostbite cruise. All events will be online using Zoom until it is safe to meet in person. Membership is open to sail, power, pontoon, kayak, canoe, PWC and non-boat owners. We participate in America's Boating Club Mid-Atlantic (District 5) activities.
