Seminar Description

The Seminar will briefly introduce GPS as a satellite-based system and the fact all the satellites provide is a position. How to use a GPS will be demonstrated aimed at developing proficiency with operating GPS with its various menus and sub menus to gather and display information. Part of the seminar is performing basic waypoint navigation using the GPS. Students are shown how to enter waypoints into their GPS units, and then how to access those waypoints for navigation. A serious of ‘Practical Navigation Tips’ will be presented. Emphasis will be placed on the GPS provided data and charts, how to verify that the GPS is working and a short primer on what to do if the unit quits.
