Becoming a member of the United States Power Squadrons and Lockport Sail and Power Squadron is quite simple. If you live near Lockport, NY, or almost anywhere in northern parts of western New York, we are the squadron you want. (If you live far from us, you may prefer a different local squadron, so click here if you would like USPS to help you find and join a nearby squadron.)
What are the requirements? We want you to be willing and able to contribute time, energy, and skills to the objectives of the organization. You must be over 18. As we have a core belief that an educated boater is a better boater, there is an educational requirement. Basically, you should have passed any one of a number of basic boating courses. For a specific list, click here. If you have years of boating experience, we may be able to waive the educational requirement. If you are new to boating and have not taken a basic boating course, click here to find the next public boating course we will offer.
If you have any questions about the squadron or membership requirements, send an email to Joanne Stanton (by clicking her name) and ask whatever questions you have.
How to proceed: Once you have decided you would like to join us, click on application, print and fill out the form and submit your application by mailing to the address below. The squadron’s Executive Committee will review your application and decide if you meet the requirements for membership. that's all there is to it!
